    BOATPIX Work Exchange

    In the past few months, BOATPIX has had several pilots hired to full-time jobs, leaving us in immediate need of pilots. We are seeking commercially-rated pilots with an FAA CFI certificate and Robinson R22 experience that we can quickly train in our work exchange program for our aerial photography contracts.

    The BOATPIX Work Exchange begins with a 100-hr training course where we provide specialized training at a subsidized rate. You will learn to safely conduct low-level aerial photography flights and to efficiently conduct commercial helicopter operations. In exchange, trainees are hired to a 100-hr, paid, aerial photography contract where you will work on our photo contracts and provide training for new pilots entering the work exchange. At the completion of the program, you will also have at least 400 hrs total time, which may qualify you for other commercial jobs.

    Applicants for the BOATPIX Work Exchange must:

    ·         Have an FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot certificate;

    ·         Have or be able to obtain an FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Helicopter certificate;

    ·         Complete the 100-hr training course required by our insurance provider;

    ·         Satisfy our insurance requirements for total aeronautical experience (at least 300 hrs TT in helicopters);

    ·         Be able to work weekends and holidays during our busy season (depending on the location, early spring through kickoff of the NFL season);

    ·         Have a record that demonstrates the ability to work safely, assume responsibility, and work independently with little supervision;

    ·         Explain your qualifications and financial assistance needs. The current cost of our training program is $20,000, and applicants are responsible for the initial training cost and living expenses throughout the duration of the work exchange. Depending on applicants’ individual circumstances, we sometimes provide financial assistance.

    Applications can be sent to Info@HelicopterAcademy.com or  contact Tom McDermott at (561) 346-2816 to discuss your qualifications. We currently have openings in California (Newport Beach and Concord), Wisconsin (Appletom), Illinois (Chicago), New Jersey (Linden), Maryland (Baltimore), North Carolina (New Bern), Texas (Austin), and Florida (Titusville, Sarasota, Pompano and Pensacola).

    About BOATPIX

    BOATPIX has been using Robinson R22 Mariners for aerial photography since 1986. Our business has continued to grow, and we now have 16 helicopters stationed all over the United States. Most of our pilots are trained through a  flight school, Helicopter Academy (www.HelicopterAcademy.com), where they pay a flat fee for 300 hrs of subsidized flight training. Our insurance provider allows us to hire students directly from our program with far less experience than most commercial operators require (usually 1000 hrs), as long as they receive specialized training in our photo operations. Students that complete our program are hired as paid Independent Contract Pilots, where they gain the experience that often qualifies them for jobs that are out of reach of most low-time pilots. Pilots that work for BOATPIX have gone on to work in every sector of the helicopter industry. For information about starting flight training at one of our NATIONWIDE locations, or to transfer to our program, contact Tom McDermott, Manager, HelicopterAcademy.com, LLC at (561) 346-2816.
