    This is a regular, full-time position, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Some travel to other base and training locations may be required.

    Description - The Head of Training will report to the General Manager and is the designated post-holder under UAE CAR-OPS 3.175 (JAR-OPS equivalent). He is responsible to the General Manager for the development and administration of training programs necessary for personnel involved in the conduct or support of flight operations. He shall liaise, as required, with other personnel in the development, completion and checking of these programs.

    Responsibilities - The Head of Training will be required to:

    ·         coordinate and ensure currency of the content of aircraft training programs;

    ·         coordinate with training pilots and the type technical pilot, where applicable, current training practices, procedures and training materials;

    ·         Liaise with training pilots with regard to flight and ground training of all flight crew members, including initial, recurrent, transition, differences and upgrade training;

    ·         Monitor the quality of training programs including regular audits of simulator courses and reviews against changes in regulations and best industry practices;

    ·         maintain and amend the training syllabus and resource library for all flight operations training courses;

    ·         advise on, set and coordinate all strategic training goals and objectives of the organization, including the development and support of flight oriented training programs for crews involved in flight operations;

    ·         Select and supervise Company Training Pilots and Type Rating Examiners;

    ·         research new training technology and outside training resource liaison;

    ·         integrate and maintaining in-house and third party computer based training (CBT) programs;

    • Monitor quality of record keeping systems and training records;
    • Maintain own professional currency;
    • Instruct non-cockpit initial and recurrent training; as required

     


     

    Qualifications and Experience – The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Valid ICAO ATPL with Instrument Rating and the following minimum flight experience:

     

      • Total time: 3,000 hrs
      • Total PIC in helicopters: 1,500 hrs
      • Total PIC in M/E helicopters: 1,200 hrs
      • at least 250 hours under IFR;
      • min. 100 hrs PIC on the AW 139
      • training experience on the AW 139 or other heavy, EFIS aircraft.

     

    • Experience in course development and instruction;
    • Must be able to understand and interpret the regulations (JAA/EASA, UAE CAR-OPS) that pertain to training and licensing;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
    • Team player with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills;
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
    • Initiative in improving systems and procedures;
    • Must be familiar with computer-based office systems;
    • Ability to multitask and maintain order and effectiveness in a complex, urgent, environment;

    What’s the opportunity?

    STARS is looking for a full time pilot to work out of the Grande Prairie base location. The successful candidate will be required to live within a one-hour travel distance of Grande Prairie at, or before, the time of employment.     Qualifications

    STARS requires a pilot with a Group 4 Instrument Rating, Helicopter Night Endorsement, successful completion of the HAMRA/HARON or HATRA exams and a minimum of 1,500 hours helicopter flight time with preference being given to those with 3,000 hrs or more experience.

    Description:

    Requirements:

    • Certified Flight Instructor Rating and ATP is preferred
    • Expert knowledge of the best international law enforcement techniques, tactics, and procedures
    • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have advanced computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office programs to include: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and MS Excel
    • Able to work well in a collaborative leadership setting and as a member of a team of experts
